Order: Bison Burger with Goat Cheese, Sweet Potato Fries, Tang Martini, Garlic Edamame
SO the Central West End is brimming with good food and fun hangouts, we know this. Sub-Zero is a staple of the neighborhood, and has been since 2004. It got its start as a vodka bar and sushi place (NOT a martini bar! This is a sensitive subject for them) I am a frequent customer, as thier bison burger is amazeballs. The service is decent but can be hit or miss, specially during busy times.
Here how it breaks down. Drinks=EPIC WIN. The drink list is almost as large as the encylopdia brittanica. They boast the largest vodka selection in the world (as least that what they claim) and even have thier own special infused vodkas. They have a drink for everyone, and everyone should have a drink at the Ice bar. (No, I'm not kidding, the bar has an ice inset to keep your drinks chilled)
The food is by all accounts great. Everyone I've gone with has raved about its good selection. The sushi rolls are more designer, but the chef is a ritz carlton alum, so you know it has to be at least decent. I recommend the buffalo tuna roll.
The service is usaully friendly but I have had some bad apples. The atmsphere is posh and trendy, with some lounge/house music to set the mood, but it often draws in a wannabe upper crust crowd that can get a bit annoying. Sitting on the street is fun when weather allows, but it does get very loud when its busy, but the food is worth the visit alone.
+ Spectacular Drinks, Excellent food
- Service can be spotty, and the crowd on weekends is slightly obnoxious in the bar area.
A big thumbs up for the food and the amazing drink list. Go during an off time for the best experience!
